New Members

NEW MEMBERS INDUCTED INTO THE ROTARY CLUB OF ENCOUNTER BAY 2019 to 2020

12th September 2019.
Induction of Colin Francis, introduced by Ken Carter. Classification of Teaching. Colin is a technical studies teacher. He started teaching in 1976 at Port Lincoln High School and then after short exchange to Oberon N.S.W. he moved to Waikerie High School. He retired with his wife Barb, to Victor Harbor in 2018. He enjoys working on, and using classic cars (especially Minis and Mokes), motor bike riding and camping.

Induction of Cherilyn Fleming, a past member of several Rotary Clubs and a hands-on volunteer within the community. She is already well known to most members through her book sales and charity efforts at Rotary markets.

The RCEB is always on the lookout for new members to help it with its humanitarian and community outreach programs. Club members value inputs and skills new members bring and look forward to working closely with them.

NEW MEMBERS INDUCTED INTO THE ROTARY CLUB OF ENCOUNTER BAY 2019

On the 28th March President Bob McFarland was privileged to induct two new members into the Rotary Club of Encounter Bay. Their backgrounds are interesting.

Sylvie Clarke worked in France as a personal assistant to the Chief Engineer of Bell Co (AT&T USA ) before migrating to Australia in 1983 and settling in Whyalla. In 2005 Sylvie moved to the Barossa Valley to take up a position as Finance officer for The Tanunda Lutheran Homes and in 2008 moved to Semaphore to work as an accountant for Landscape Construction Services.

From 2009 - 2013 Sylvie moved to Strathalbyn and took on the position of Accountant for the Hills, Fleurieu and KI Regional Development Australia.

In 2013 Sylvie decided to start her own business Smart Home Vision Realty specialising in Eco Real Estate in Victor Harbor. Sylvie still has most of her family living in France except her mother and two sons.

Councilor David Kemp, and former Rotarian, was also inducted into the club. David served 33 years in the SA Metropolitan Fire Service rising to the rank of Commander and a member of the executive team with experience in corporate governance and emergency management, He served on state and national committees, has tertiary qualifications through the Institute of Police Management and currently lives at Encounter Bay. David is currently a volunteer at the Encounter Centre.
